The Story of American Freedom

This is a course made available to the general public by Oklahoma University.  The instructor, Rufus J. Fears, was a classicist and an historian, but more importantly he was a consummate story teller who has an extraordinary capacity to bring history to life and to make it relevant for our time.  He died in October 2012 and this series stands in his honor and memory.

Like all historians, Rufus J. Fears has a point of view. He believes that great leaders shape history.  Not all historians agree with him.  Many believe that social forces are the primary mechanism that shapes history.  Professor Fears also presents a Southern point of view.  Do not continue if you believe that you may be offended by his perspective.
